Plans were submitted to Salford City Council in September 2013 for a redevelopment of the former Mitchell & Shackleton site at Green Lane, Eccles consisting of 140 houses. In parallel to this, works were undertaken to assess the level of remedial works that would be required across the site – including a detailed survey of an existing mineshaft – and to design a scheme for the attenuation of noise from the nearby M602 motorway.
