In parallel to this, works were undertaken to assess the level of remedial works that would be required across the site – including a detailed survey of an existing mineshaft – and to design a scheme for the attenuation of noise from the nearby M602 motorway. Salford City Council granted outline permission for the scheme in September 2015 following completion of a Section 106 agreement, and terms were agreed with Bellway Homes shortly afterwards for delivery of the approved scheme.

Preparatory works at the site commenced in early 2013, with site clearance completed in September 2013 and construction works commencing shortly afterwards. The project was completed in May 2015, with Motel One commencing operations in the new building shortly afterwards.
