Practical Completion at Arena Point, Leeds

Olympian can announce the Practical Completion of Arena Point, Leeds achieved on the 30th of July 2026.

Standing at 45 storeys (135 metres), Arena Point is the world’s tallest solely purpose-built student accommodation building, delivering 633 PBSA beds in the heart of Leeds City Centre.

Reaching Practical Completion marks the culmination of a development journey that began back in 2019, bringing Arena Point from initial vision through to a completed landmark on the Leeds skyline.

We would like to thank our funding partner, Cain, whose collaborative approach and continued support over the years has been instrumental in bringing the development through to completion.

We would also like to thank our construction partner, RG Group, whose diligence, expertise, professionalism and commitment have been integral to delivering the project on programme and to budget, alongside the wider design team and all subcontractors who contributed to its successful delivery.

Throughout the project, the team successfully overcame a number of technical and logistical challenges, including:

  • Stabilising the boundary interface as the basement was excavated through an innovative polymer injection system, avoiding the need for intrusive ground support anchors into adjacent property.
  • Constructing a 45 storey building on an exceptionally constrained city centre footprint with adjacent high-rise structure in close proximity.
  • Adapting the design during construction to accommodate secondary staircases following changes in legislation.
  • Utilising the UK’s first internal shaft climbing tower crane using the cores due to space restrictions outside of the footprint to negate the need for a crane base.
  • Managing complex logistics around the ongoing use of the arena facility.

Operated by Fusion Students, Arena Point is now ready to welcome students residents ahead of the 2026/27 academic year.
